History and Status  

The Faculty of Agriculture, as the oldest and most fundamental unit of the University of Maragheh, began its activities in 1987 as the  Maragheh School of Agriculture . This center was upgraded to the  Faculty of Agriculture  in 1998, marking a significant step forward in its growth and development. The faculty is situated on a  110-hectare  campus in the city of Maragheh, East Azerbaijan Province. As the largest higher education center in the south of the province, the University of Maragheh currently hosts approximately  4,000 students  across its four main faculties, with the Faculty of Agriculture being one of its core components.

-  Number of Students : Approximately  1,100 students  are currently enrolled at the faculty. 
-  Faculty Members : About  40 professors and academic staff  are engaged in teaching and research activities. 
-  Academic Programs : The faculty offers a total of  2 Ph.D. programs, 7 Master's programs, and 8 Bachelor's programs . 
-  Study Levels : The faculty admits students at all three levels: Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D.

Aiming to train specialized and efficient human resources, the faculty provides a diverse range of programs across different degrees:

  - Agricultural Engineering – Crop Physiology 
  - Agricultural Engineering – Crop Ecology 
  - Agricultural Engineering – Agricultural Entomology 

-  Master's Programs : 
  - Agricultural Engineering – Agricultural Entomology 
  - Agricultural Engineering – Agroecology 
  - Soil Sciences and Engineering (Soil Resources Management, Soil Physics and Conservation) 
  - Plant Production and Genetics Engineering (Genetics, etc.) 

-  Bachelor's Programs : Various fields in Agricultural Engineering.

 Research, Innovation, and Facilities 
Relying on its dedicated and experienced faculty members, the Faculty of Agriculture has always been at the forefront of research and technology.

-  Soilless Cultivation Systems (Hydroponics) : To enhance the quality of education and research and to keep pace with modern technologies, the university has launched a  comprehensive collection of various soilless cultivation (hydroponic) systems  within the faculty's greenhouses. This provides students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge greenhouse production methods. 
-  Research Greenhouse : The university has established a  3,500 square meter research greenhouse , which is now fully operational. 
-  Fish Farming Unit : The faculty features a  fish farming unit with a nominal capacity of 40 tons , serving as both a practical training center and a research hub for students. 
-  Central Library : A new central library spanning  over 5,000 square meters  has been inaugurated, offering a rich academic resource for student and faculty research.

With its distinguished history, highly qualified academic staff, and continuously expanding educational and research programs, the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Maragheh is recognized as one of the key agricultural hubs in the northwestern region of the country.
