Faculty of Humanities – University of Maragheh

History and Status

The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Maragheh, as one of the main and dynamic faculties of the university, began its activities in  2010  with the establishment of two programs:  Geography and Urban Planning  and  Law . Alongside the three other faculties (Agriculture, Basic Sciences, and Engineering) and one research center (Astronomy and Astrophysics), it forms the core structure of the University of Maragheh.

As the largest higher education institution in the south of East Azerbaijan Province, the University of Maragheh is situated on a  110-hectare  campus. The university currently hosts approximately  4,000 students  and  160 full-time faculty members . In terms of rankings, the university was ranked among the top 20 comprehensive universities in Iran in the ISC ranking system in 2019.

The Faculty of Humanities aims to train specialized professionals well-versed in contemporary humanities disciplines, offering a diverse range of programs across different levels.

 Graduate Programs (Master's Degree): 

-  Sports Management  (final approval for launching this program has been obtained)
-  Exercise Physiology  (final approval for launching this program has been obtained)
-  English Translation Studies  (final approval for launching this program has been obtained)
-  Geography and Urban Planning  with the following specializations:
    - Urban Planning
    - Housing Planning and Urban Regeneration
    - Land Use and Property Auditing
    - Urban Environmental Studies

Research, Innovation, and Facilities

Relying on its experienced faculty members, the Faculty of Humanities has consistently taken effective steps in research and education. The faculty's academic staff are active across various departments, with some being recognized as **top researchers** of the faculty. Furthermore, the promotion of faculty members from assistant professorship to associate professorship reflects the high academic standing of the teaching staff.

 Central Library : The newly inaugurated central library of the university spans  over 5,000 square meters . It features two study halls with a total area of 917 square meters, equipped with  188 study tables and 417 chairs .

 Physical Development : Plans are underway to expand the physical space of the Faculty of Humanities by the year  2027 .
